Backpacker Magazine, "Walk Through a Rhododendron Tunnel"

This is a "Rhododendron Tunnel" (rho·do·den·dron).  Its "Backpackers Magazine's" #1 hike to do before you die. These real-life enchanted forests are to make even the most manliest man lose his man-card. A  "Rhododendron" is a woody flower mostly found in Asia. It is also known as Nepal's National Flower. But us Upstate South Carolinian's have them right in our backyards. Found off the 1-mile Grassy Ridge Trail on the North Carolina-Tennessee Border, You can see these beautiful flowers. These often bloom in the first 3-weeks of June, "Catch them afterwards" says photographer Sharon Carter, "You will get to see the 'Tunnel Effect'. "
