"A child called it."

Dave Pelzer wrote a heartbreaking story entitled "A child called it." He shared his own personal outlook of life throughout his experiences of being abused. This book was written through the eyes of Dave and speaks to all readers. In this book, Dave discusses the emotional and physical state of abuse he was living in at the age of four to around twelve years old. Not only was Dave being abused, he was being abused by the one who should hold him in her arms when he is hurt, tie his shoe laces, and is supposed to give him a shoulder to cry on, Dave was abused by his own mother. Being forced to eat throw up, to be forced into drinking poison, and to be forced into eating soap was normal in his everyday life. Dave couldn't help but feel trapped and hopeless. Although Dave experiences a horrible abuse and emotional struggle, he did not let that define him. Dave stayed true to himself and he was brought out of the abuse through his courage and determination to remove himself from the heartbreak. Dave's teacher was notified about the abuse and helped Dave escape the torment. This book had a lasting impact upon me and it made me thankful for what I have been blessed with. I have learned through Dave that you never know what someone is going through and to not take situations like this lightly. I will always remember this book.
