The Giver. Lowis Lowry
The book, The Giver is a very interesting book to say the least. It is about a young boy named Jonas who lives in this perfect community where no one knows color, death, or about war. In this perfect community children at 12 and under go to a ceremony where they are given specific things but ages 2 to 7 are not really described so well, but for example at age 9 you receive a bike, and at age 12 you are assigned to a job. There areany different jobs as in helping the elderly, fish hatchery attendant, and birth mother, but Jonas is assigned a very unique job, he is assigned the reciver of memory. With this job he cannot tell anyone about what he has seen whe he is given these memories by the giver. This assignment is tough of him, he started to see color and understand feelings and also death, but Jonas is cracking he just wants to tell someone. His dad is a nurture, which that means he takes care of born children, and his father brings home a child named Gabrial. As Jonas revives all these memories from the giver, he gives some of them to the baby gabe. Little does Jonas know gabe is about to be sent to elsewhere which is basically death, so Jonas decides to leave the perfect community and take gabe with him. At the end of the bike we don't really know if he dies or if he gets away all we know is that gabe and Jonas are now free. I defiantly recommend this book is you like to read because you will want to know what is going to happen next.
