Three Little Words

Three Little Words is a memoir on Ashley Rhodes-Courter's life. Ashley spent nine years of her life in fourteen different foster homes. Her mother began to spiral out of control when she was only three years old; getting involved with drugs and abusive boyfriends. During the nine years of foster care, Ashley faced even more abusive families and harsh obstacles in her life. Her childhood is not very stable, since she's juggled between schools and foster homes one after another. Finally when she is twelve years old, she gets adopted by Gay and Phil Courter. Ashley finds it very difficult to adjust to a new family since she has been holding on to the hope that her mother will come back for her all her life. In the end, Ashley begins to open up to other families and adoption agencies on her troublesome time in the foster care services. I'd recommend this book for you if you have any interests in the foster care services or can relate to any of this!

  1. I'm usually not interested in sad books like this but this sounds like something that I could definitely get into!
