This book is about four friends and four ways to serve their country. Morris, Rudi, Ivan, and beck are best friends but when one gets drafted into the Vietnam war, the others sign up too. They are in different branches in the military but they are fighting together and pledge to come home together. Haunted by dreams of death Morris makes it his job to watch over his friends the best place for that is the U.S. navy. Off the coast of Vietnam on the USS Boston Morris and sailors provide support to ground troops. But the USS Boston isn't safe its self form attacks his courage is tested like never before he made a pledge not to let his friends die and make it home alive.
