The Fire Within by Chris D'Lacey

When David moves in with Liz and Lucy Pennykettle, He finds there are an numerous amount of hand crafted clay dragons sitting around the house. After a month of living there with Liz and Lucy, he gains their trust and he gets a dragon of his own named Gadzooks, who was holding a notepad and biting a pencil. Lucy asks David to write a story for her, David says ok and gave it chance but he didn't know what to write about. He asked lucy what she liked and she replied with "I like conker". David was confused and then found out that Conker is one of the squirrels that Lucy enjoys watching at the park. He decided that he was going to make an adventurous book about Conker and his friends called "Snigger and the Nutbeast". He used Gadzooks to help him with ideas for the story, David would close his eyes and imagine Gadzooks writing on his notepad a word that would spark an idea for the story. Later in the story David was stuck in one part of the story and didn't have an idea to continue. Liz asked David that did he ask Gadzooks to help him but David was mad at his dragon for creating a bad ending to his story. After a while David noticed that Gadzooks had been gone for a while he asked Liz and she said the dragons die if they are not loved, David realized the only way to revive Gadzooks was to catch his fire tear. If he didn't catch his fire tear Gadzooks would die since the fire tear would have touch the ground first. When David caught it he noticed it felt little squishy bean and all he had to do was transfer the fire tear from him to Gadzooks. While the transfer Gadzooks lit up as if he was ready to play again. I feel that this story really shined a new perspective of how someone can feel by the words of another person.
