Upstream
Upstream is a fiction book by Melissa Lion about a teenage girl named Marty who is struggling to overcome the death of her boyfriend. You do find out that Steven her boyfriend was killed while with Marty but she never tells anyone what actually happened on that day. This book isn't particularly about the death of him it is more about the journey of Marty grieving over him. While just starting her senior year she makes friends with the new owner of the local movie theater that she works at. Becoming close friends with Katherine, the movie theater owner is quite easy for Marty but difficult at the same time because of keeping the details of Steven's death a secret. By the end Marty opens up to Katherine about what happens but in the same day says she's moving to Hawaii for college. I really enjoyed this book because it kept me intrigued till the end. If you like to be on your toes wondering what's going to happen next I recommend this book!
